Last week was our first week home from vacation, but we had so many activities planned that it turned out to be a chock full-o-fun week! On Wednesday, we had a playgroup planned to go to the movies. One of the theatres here in town does a kid-specific time and shows a movie every week for really cheap. The feature for last week was "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" and if you are humming that tune now then you must have watched Veggie Tales a few *hundred* times like us! Natalee is a HUGE fan. So, it was a great opportunity for her to see her first movie. We met several of our friends there, took up a whole row with booster seats and snacks in tow. Natalee loved the big screen and the whole experience, but the music and some of the movie kind of scared her, but overall she loved it.
On Thursday, we picked up Nana (my Mom) and she is staying us for a week or two. The greatness of that is a whole post in itself!
Friday came and we had company check into the Turner hotel. My lifelong friend Lana, her husband Stirling, and their daughter Leili came to visit. (Lana's dad was our music minister and I vividly remember picking Lana up from the nursery when she was 2 and I was 5 or 6. Stirling's dad was our family doctor and delivered me, so you could say we go way back.) Saturday night was another first--the CIRCUS! The girls had a blast once they settled in a little. It was pretty overwhelming to a two-year old at first, but Natalee did eventually get really into it and is still talking about it. Of course, we had to buy the $20 light up toy, but thankfully we avoided the $12 snow cone and $12 lemonade. The girls were so wound up when we got home at *10:30 p.m.* that it took a while to go to sleep! They played so well together all weekend long, even taking turns VOLUNTARILY with said $20 light up toy. I didn't have to entertain Natalee at all--it was great!! Maybe one day that will be how she and Jack will play?!
